For a couple who loves to cook, the original kitchen in this house was not a place to spend time in. This clever micro extension is just 1.2 metres wide, opening up the kitchen to provide an illusion of much more space.
To do this, we knocked down the internal walls around the existing kitchen and added a large window and glazed sliding door onto the tiered garden beyond, connecting both indoor and outdoor spaces.
Within a tight budget, the extension also included a small utility room, cloak room with WC and, Sarah’s favourite, a new pantry.

“We've done a few building projects before, but this was the first time we'd used an architect, so we were a bit apprehensive. He dealt sensitively with the local authority building department in order to achieve the desired look, whilst conforming fully with all building regulations. We are thrilled with the result.”
