Porth y Castell, Barry

Having worked abroad in Dubai, this couple were ready to move home for their retirement. They had found this house which they loved in Barry and wanted to make it even closer to their dream.

A bright and open kitchen was at the heart of their vision for their home, and we extended it outwards into the garden with the help of a steel frame. The open plan kitchen and dining room are now connected to the garden with a wall of glass and bifold doors that can be pulled back in warm weather.

The project included creating a first-floor balcony over the new extension alongside a covered car port.

As our clients were living abroad during the build, it was a special moment seeing the look on their faces first setting eyes on their completed home!

  • Sitting at the kitchen table, you feel as if you are almost in the garden looking out. By a trick of the eye, the low walls of the patio feel like an extended boundary for the kitchen, further enhancing the feeling of space.
